Muaythai nas Escolas: FECAMTT’s project approved under PIE/SC
FECAMTT’s Muaythai nas Escolas project, approved under PIE/SC according to the federation: what it is, who runs it, what is confirmed and how to help.

Muaythai nas Escolas (“Muaythai in Schools”) is the project of FECAMTT, the Santa Catarina Traditional Muaythai Federation, to bring the Thai martial art to children and teenagers as an educational sport. According to the federation’s 2025 media kit, it was approved under PIE/SC (Santa Catarina’s Sports Incentive Program), in the educational sport and sports development line, for a total of R$ 100,000.00. This is how companies in Brazil do it; readers abroad do not pay tax in Brazil, but they can still follow and support the project. This article explains what the project is, who is behind it, what has already been confirmed by an official source and what is still missing.
Who FECAMTT is
FECAMTT holds CNPJ (Brazilian company registration number) 14.436.285/0001-12, is based in Balneário Camboriú and was founded in 2011. It has been chaired by Mestre Paulo Ribeiro since December 27, 2013 and is registered with the Conselho Estadual de Esporte (the State Sports Council, CED nº 237/2022). On April 11, 2025, State Law nº 19,281/2025, proposed by state representative Carlos Humberto, declared the federation a state public utility.
These three points (legal existence for more than three years, a CRED registration certificate from the State Council and headquarters in Santa Catarina) are exactly the requirements that the FESPORTE FAQ lists for an organization to propose a project under PIE. FESPORTE is Santa Catarina’s state sports foundation.
What the project does
The project grows out of work the Mestre has been doing for more than twenty years: Projeto Campeões do Futuro (“Future Champions”), free Taekwondo and self-defense for children after school hours. Its centers operate in schools and neighborhoods of Balneário Camboriú, such as EEB João Goulart and the São Judas neighborhood, both with activities recorded in 2019, and EEB Higino João Pio. In 2019 the project had a partnership with the city’s Department of Social Inclusion.
Muaythai nas Escolas takes this model into PIE, under the rules for educational sport. Decree nº 12,861/2026, art. 5, defines sports development as sport aimed at children and teenagers, focused on their overall development. That is the project’s line.
Results that come from the same work
In 2025, at the World Muaythai Championship in Verona, Italy, a 16-year-old student of the Mestre became youth world champion, and Leandro Veiga took silver in the adult division, according to Página 3. The same year, a delegation of 30 people from Balneário Camboriú, Itajaí and Camboriú took part in a Muaythai seminar in Thailand. Muaythai has been part of the Santa Catarina Open Games since 2019.
None of these results is a condition for supporting the project. They show that the grassroots work exists and lasts.
What has been confirmed and what has not
Being honest with whoever is going to put money in:
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| FECAMTT exists, has a CRED and state public utility status | Confirmed by an official source |
| PIE/SC exists and works with ICMS | Confirmed (Decree nº 880/2025 and FESPORTE FAQ) |
| Project approved for R$ 100,000.00 | Stated in FECAMTT’s 2025 media kit; not confirmed in an official publication |
| Project number and fundraising letter | Not published here; ask the federation |
| Project approved for income tax | Does not exist |
How your company supports it
Support happens through PIE/SC, using the company’s ICMS. In short:
- Confirm with your accountant that the company pays regular ICMS in Santa Catarina and is up to date with its DIME and EFD filings and its certidão negativa (tax clearance certificate).
- Calculate the limit: 15%, 10% or 7% of the ICMS due per period, depending on the revenue bracket (see the brackets).
- Ask FECAMTT for the project number, the fundraising letter and the dedicated account.
- Register the support and the amount in SAT (the state tax system) before transferring (Decree nº 880/2025, § 1).
- Transfer, take the credit and file the documents.
Example with round numbers: a company in the 15% bracket with ICMS due of R$ 30,000 a month can allocate R$ 4,500 a month. In one year, that is R$ 54,000, more than half of the project’s value, without spending a single real more than it would already pay in tax.
The full roadmap is in how to sponsor through PIE/SC.
What about individuals?
There is no path with an income tax deduction for this project. Individuals who want to support children in Balneário Camboriú with their tax have two legal paths: the city’s Children and Adolescents Fund, with projects approved by the municipal council, and projects already approved under the federal Sports Incentive Law. Both are explained on the Support page.
Anyone who wants to help Campeões do Futuro without a deduction can do what has always worked: gloves, protective gear, transportation to competitions, a snack after training. This is how companies in Brazil do it. If you live abroad, you do not pay tax in Brazil, but you can still support the project: talk to the Mestre to find out what is needed today.
Common mistakes
- Thinking the project receives income tax. It does not.
- Transferring before registering in SAT.
- Depositing into the federation’s general account instead of the project account.
- Giving without seeing the fundraising letter.
- Confusing the state’s 0.5% cap with the company’s limit.
How to do it today
