Muaythai coaches and officials gathered in a room in Pinhalzinho, with Mestre Paulo seated in the center

On May 16, 2026, FECAMTT, the Santa Catarina Traditional Muaythai Federation, opened the Muaythai regionals for JASC 2026 in Pinhalzinho, in western Santa Catarina. JASC is the Santa Catarina Open Games. Mestre Paulo Ribeiro, the federation’s president, posted about the opening meeting with coaches and officials and thanked “all the teachers and masters”. The 2026 Open Games will be held in Rio do Sul, from November 12 to 28, according to Fesporte, Santa Catarina’s state sports foundation.

The opening in Pinhalzinho

The May 16 post shows the opening meeting in a room, with the Mestre seated in the center: “We have started the regionals with a focus on Muaythai on the road to JASC 2026, thank you to all the teachers and masters” (our translation; Instagram). Two days later, with a photo of the packed gym and the ring set up on the court, came the thank-you: “Thank you, Pinhalzinho, 2nd State Stage” (Instagram). In other words, the event served two purposes: a stage of the State Championship and a qualifying regional for the Open Games.

JASC 2026 will be in Rio do Sul

According to Fesporte’s official calendar, the 2026 Santa Catarina Open Games will be held in Rio do Sul, from November 12 to 28, closing the state’s sports year. Fesporte’s president, Jeferson Batista, pointed out that with the calendar in hand, cities and athletes can plan logistics and training cycles.

Muaythai debuted at JASC in 2019, in Indaial, as an exhibition sport, after a request FECAMTT began in 2013. The story is in the article on Muaythai’s JASC debut.

The next stages of 2026

The FECAMTT website announced the 3rd State Stage for July 26, 2026, at the Bela Vista Sports Gym, on Rua Ibirama, in the Bela Vista neighborhood of São José. The year’s 1st stage, according to the federation’s Ofício 01/2026, an official notice, was organized in partnership with the Fundação de Esportes de Camboriú, Camboriú’s municipal sports foundation.

In October, the 4th stage was held in Camboriú. According to the newspaper Página 3, the SproteThai team, from Balneário Camboriú, led by coach Diego Sprote, won the stage, with two semi-professional belts and the first-place trophy. Since the ages of all the athletes mentioned have not been confirmed, this site does not publish their names.

How qualification works

Each state stage brings together affiliated gyms from across the state, with weigh-ins, coach accreditation and bouts by weight and age category. The regionals decide who represents each city at the Open Games, always in coordination with the municipal sports foundations, which register the delegations. That is how it worked in 2019, with accreditation in Joinville, Florianópolis and Criciúma, and that is how it works in 2026.

Why the west

Opening the calendar in Pinhalzinho means something: Muaythai in Santa Catarina is not concentrated only on the coast. In 2018, the 2nd State Stage had already been held in Chapecó, also in the west. Taking the stages inland lowers travel costs for gyms in the region and broadens the base of athletes who reach JASC. Learn about the sport on the Muaythai page.
